Financial Support for Training
Employment and training programs help adult Albertans get the skills they need to get a job, get a better job, or increase their skills to keep their job. Alberta Works Income Support is available to eligible adults to participate in employment and training programs. Tuition, books and supplies, and income support may be available if you qualify as an eligible learner.
Applications for financial assistance should be submitted at least two months prior to the beginning of training. Missing information or supporting documents will delay the processing of your application. Applicants are reminded they must have a financial plan in place until they receive their benefits.
For Full-Time and Part-Time Study you need to discuss your eligibility for financial assistance with an authorized official and be recommended for training before submitting an application form for processing. These forms may be completed on-screen, and printed after the information has been verified. All electronic forms must be printed off and signed in ink before being submitted. At this time we cannot process applications submitted on-line. It is best to take your completed application with you to your assessment appointment, so it can be reviewed.
