Alberta launches mentorship campaign to support children and youth in care

More kids will benefit from caring adults with the launch of a recruitment campaign to help find a mentor for every child and youth in care in Alberta.

Seven members have been either reappointed or appointed to the Premier’s Council on the Status of Persons with Disabilities that advises government from a disability perspective.

Investments in education and training will improve child intervention practice

Alberta is investing in the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Calgary to educate more social workers and develop a new focus on child intervention.

Alberta expands support for flood-related emotional trauma

More counselling and outreach services will be available to those suffering the emotional toll of the floods.

More support for victims of family and sexual violence

Communities will be better able to help victims of family violence and sexual abuse get the services they need when they need them. An additional $2 million will be provided to sexual assault centres and family violence shelters will receive a $4 million increase.
