Digital Career and Employment Information Services

Authority

Intent

To provide direction and considerations for Authorized Officials when assessing an individual’s eligibility to participate in Digital Career and Employment Information Services (DCEIS).

DCEIS provides digitally capable and job-ready individuals with access to Government of Alberta approved digital services to self-manage their career and job search activities.


Policy

Through DCEIS, individuals manage their career and job search journey through digital services that leverage technology to provide employment resources, labour market information and job search assistance. Services are targeted towards job seekers who are closest to the labour market and able to job search independently.

Eligible Individuals

To be eligible for DCEIS, an individual must be:

  • an Alberta resident, and
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident or convention refugee and be legally entitled to work in Canada, and
  • unemployed or marginally employed, and
  • digitally capable: possess the digital literacy skills required to independently participate, and
  • able to access digital technology and the internet to independently participate, and
  • committed to seeking employment, and
  • assessed and referred to DCEIS by an Authorized Official

 

Program Components

All program components are delivered online. Individuals self-manage and personalize their experience by customizing the digital services and supports offered through a digital service.

  • Orientation to DCEIS e.g., navigation, tools and services;
  • Skills analysis, career planning, labour market information;
  • Identification of potential employment opportunities and access to job boards;
  • Job search techniques, and
  • Employment preparation skills such as resume writing, interview and developing a network.

Delivery Methods

  • Digital features and supports which may include AI powered tools
  • Virtual workshops
  • Live webinars
  • Virtual sessions with a career coach
  • Supplementary tools or services to assist users with their job search or job maintenance

Duration

Eligible individuals may access DCEIS up to a 12-month maximum.

Expectations of Participating Individuals

Individuals must:

  • Provide all required information and consent to having their information used and disclosed in the application process, for registration for DCEIS, ongoing eligibility verification, and for delivery of those programs, benefits or services offered by the Government of Alberta, if eligibility is confirmed; and
  • Adhere to the acceptable participation and progress standards as outlined by the service provider.


Note: Individuals who are not progressing in their job search may be determined to require more intensive case management and subsequently be referred to other CEIS programs or services.

Expected Outcomes

Expected outcomes for DCEIS include:

  • Full-time or part-time employment. Part-time employment is an acceptable outcome if it has been identified as the employment goal for job seekers who are closest to the labour market.
  • Increased job seeker knowledge of and ability to access career and employment information services via digital technology.


Additional outcomes may be identified as part of the procurement for services.

Monitoring DCEIS

The Government of Alberta is responsible for monitoring DCEIS.
